Been listening to a bunch of "Triumvirat" CDs lately (Pompeii, Spartacus, Old Loves Die Hard, etc.) Wow, it's very easy to see that Jurgen Fritz was tremendously influenced by Keith Emerson. Some of his keyboard runs sound just like they jumped out of an ELP tune. What do y'all think of the band, and specifically Jurgen Fritz compositions and arrangements? Gary

That's a new one on me...
I'll get back to you as soon as I've sought some out and taken a listen.
Any suggestions where to start?

Mark... Read about them here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TriumviratIf you wanna hear some of their stuff, I'd start with "Spartacus" or "Pompeii" (these are probably their best albums).... Their later stuff wasn't all that good. The Keith Emerson influence is very obvious on albums like "Pompeii"... especially all the Hammond Organ runs built around "suspended 4ths" that Jurgen Fritz plays. Check 'em out...

Just wanted to add a comment here... since I had mentioned that Jurgen Fritz has so much Emerson influence in his music. I have noticed, as I'm certain many people have, that the Master Keith Emerson is "often imitated" but "never duplicated." Yeah, i know that is a terribly old cliche, but it really holds true when one compares the artistic form of Emerson to other keyboardists. What I mean is... it's very easy to pick out the keyboardists who have been influenced by, or tried to model their own style after him. We all know that Keith has a truly unique musical style which is unlike any other musician. And, it's tremendously easy to see why he has become a role model for sooooooo many performers all over the world. I often see where many musicians will list him as one of their main influences (I know that I sure do) and still others list the whole band ELP as an influence. Can't blame someone for wanting to learn from "The Best", right ? So, while many players learn from Emerson, model their styles after Emerson, study the many compositions of Emerson, and credit him as an influence in their own musical development .... nobody will ever even come close to the amount of talent and musical genius that is Keith Emerson. "Often imitated"... "never duplicated" Gary
