This is an interview, I think from the end of last year or early this year as he commented missing the September release for the new album to catch the Christmas sales, and so was then looking to a March release ... He talks about ELP and KEB and the new CD and DVD. Personally I loved this bit about Carl Palmer Q. There’s been a lot of ELP compilations coming out lately — DVDs and box sets, including a new 5-disc set called From The Beginning. I thought The Original Bootleg Series From The Manticore Vaults sets were by far the most creative. Who came up with that idea?
Keith: The person that needs to be congratulated on that one is Carl Palmer. Every place that we went to, he’d normally be the one going down to the record shop and he’d search for bootlegs. It is known that there are a lot of bootlegs in Japan and I didn’t actually seek to go down to Tower Records and check out to see if there were any ELP bootlegs, but Carl Palmer is notorious for doing that — Japan, Germany, Italy or where ever. Carl will bravely walk into a shop, get the bootlegs out, and announce himself to the manager, and say, “These are bootlegs” and he will just walk out of the store with them. Of course, there was nothing they could about that. And he had quite a collection. And on the new stuff ... Q. So now you’re back in the States. I understand you’re making a record with Marc Bonilla.
Keith. Yes. It’s something that started at the beginning of the year. It’s all basically (new and) original material, and kind of follows a Trilogy/Brain Salad Surgery type of direction. There’s one quite lengthy conceptual piece, which incorporates vocals as well. Marc Bonilla does a brilliant job of providing the vocals. It’s about a 20-minute piece. The rest of it follows the same sort of format, which I think was successful in the 70s for ELP. There are other shorter pieces which I suppose you could call lighthearted — if you can call “Benny The Bouncer” and “The Sheriff” lighthearted. That adds a fine element to it. And then, of course, there is a classical adaptation, again another Ginastera piece, which I think works very, very well.
Q. Which Ginastera piece are you recording?
Keith. I’m going to keep that secret because there are certain people who would say, “I know which piece this is.”(laughs)
Q. Is there any way that fans can track the progress of the new record?
K. We’ve already shot an awful lot of footage of work in progress in the studio. I’ve got one complete piece, which will go up on YouTube in the next month or so. There will be a My Space and YouTube coming up very soon, of which I’ll be making an announcement on my web site (keithemerson.com). Yeah, there’s some great stuff of Marc and I recording together, personal interviews with Marc and myself, and a lot of interesting things. I just want to put these out periodically on My Space and YouTube and get the excitement going.

Hi Sue,
Thanks for the post and the link, both are very much apppreciated as always.
What an effing joke the following quote is:
"There will be a My Space and YouTube coming up very soon, of which I’ll be making an announcement on my web site (keithemerson.com). Yeah, there’s some great stuff of Marc and I recording together, personal interviews with Marc and myself, and a lot of interesting things. But what amazes me and, if I am honest, downright annoys me is that Keith's 'official' web site is always in catch up mode. Why the heck post a video, interview or whatever on youbloomingtube.com or whatever.crap and not on you own web site?
Seems to me that Keith is either getting some bad advice or couldn't give a toss about his fans, and I sincerely hope it is the former rather than the latter.
Come on Keith, if you are listening, talk to the fans that have been loyal to you throughout your career on your own web site or here rather than pissing about (sorry lost it there) on a fashionable social networking site that the majority of your fans don't visit. Your fans here, and those that visit the 'official KE web site (ha)' have happily funded your career and deserve more than the third-hand morsels that we can scavage across the web.
Or if your can't be bothered to do that just take my money and give me the CD now!
Am I alone here or do other EMO/ELP fans feel the same, thats a question by the way not a statement - for those whose governments permit and who can give a toss - you are allowed to express your own view - perhaps Keith will listen!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry to be negative - but sometimes someone has to be
As ever a devoted Emo fan!
Sue - if you regard this as heresy on an ELP/EMO forum please feel free to delete both this post and my user

I've no intention of deleting the post or use a user .... please don't go ... I'll have no one to talk to, or to pick up the stuff I miss surfing!
I agree with you totally ... last week I hit the 'Ask Emo' button on his web site, and told him exactly what I thought of his web site, AND only a Japan release date AND no UK dates ...
Here's a bit of it ...
So, why no UK tour dates ... why the album in Japan first with no date for the rest of the world? And how is it none if this info is as yet on your official web site?
Sorry, but I'm one very disappointed, loyal UK fan - and i know others here are going to feel likewise - also I can honestly say I don't even expect your to answer this in the Ask Emo section of your site - you haven't answered anything there since May 2006!
You do seem to like to make it hard work for your fans to know what you are doing musically and to support you.
I did rant more than that ... and included a copy of the piccy at the front of this page, pointing out this is my work ... and pointed out we have more info on this 'unofficial' forum than his site. Needless to say, no response. That day's rant did make me fell a little better ...
I think his 'official' web site is a waste of space, and we are trying to stay loyal ... but I sometimes wonder if he realises how far he pushes that.
So, l100 you're staying, it's not heresy, it's fact - and I agree with you completely.

Perhaps a thank you to the great man may bring further morsels to the starved in the UK!!!

Ok ... now I'm replying to my own post .... which is worrying .... the news update and the front page latest date update, don't match! As the latest news update is today, one hopes the front page and music will change any minute now ... 'cause it's definitely the old stuff at the moment of writing. But, here's hoping ..... Personally I think one of these images would make a better front page .... or a montage of all 3 My hubby has a large print of the bottom one on the wall in his mini studio ... everytime I come upstairs, there is Keith right before my eyes .... OK, I admit it all this site is run by someone who loves the music ... but also thinks the guy is more than a little tasty! ;D

I keep replying to myself!!!!!! New front page etc only works for me after I've gone on to another page of the site and then press 'Home'! I've sent an e-mail in case they don't know there's a problem. I've also cheekily said I'm looking forward to a UK release date for the new album .... and asked for a link to here on the new site. How cheeky can one fan get!

Hi Sue,
I would delete cookies if I were you, the webmaster at keithemerson.com is obviously keeping tabs on you and 'enhancing' your browsing experience!!!!!
PS: HMV in Japan have the new album listed, well two actually, one a CD release and the second a CD/DVD release. Unfortunately there was no track listing on either and the automated translation provided by Google didn't make a great deal of sense . Perhaps you could ask your Japanese friend to translate it for us?
PPS: Have just acquired a track from the Zeppelin tribute CD 'Led Box' - Keith Emerson playing on 'Black Dog' - I will provide a link to the full track as and when I get the time.

Please don't talk to me about cookies!!!! I've had so many photobucket problems, you nearly didn't get the piccies above! Finally, I've managed to get back to my photobucket account without deleting all the linked cookies and changing browsers! I'll check on the HMV site ... unfortunately I don't have e-mail with Izumi, I'll have to write. I have to say, I'm happy to buy a Japanese CD, they are usually better quality than the European ones .... going on Led Zep and David Bowie! I look forward to the Black Dog - Keith version link.

Works fine for me, although I have the 'silent' home page bookmarked.
Is there anyway that video and music can be embedded in the forum?

Don't know on the question of video and music ... I'll have to look into it and come back to you on that one.

Yep, 'silent' home page works! Switch on the music and the picture distorts to half the old and half the new home page!
